Great question. I can tell you what I do. First of all you should try to always have three balls in the air at once. That is, one script in the revision stage, one in the drafting stage, and one in the development stage, e.g. outline or treatment.
I would also look at Woody Allen and his method. Like his stuff or not, the guy’s prolific with over 30 movies in as many years. I saw once where he has a notebook full of ideas. Sometimes they’re just a premise. Sometimes they’re more.
Truthfully, though, you’ve just got to pick one that you just can’t not write, sit your ass in the chair, and write it.

Cracked has a lot of traffic and decent actors and production value.

John August says those who can’t write teach seminars. But, back in college I went to Creative Screenwriting Expo 04 and the speakers were McKee, William Goldman, and Robert Zemeckis to name a few. It was just what I needed at that point in my writing career.

Although this movie received mixed reviews when it was first released, John Hughes’s The Breakfast Club has since become a classic and an important part of our film cannon. Its realistic dialogue and use of a single setting make it an ideal read for any young screenwriter looking to hone his or her craft and break into the biz.
Read an undated draft of The Breakfast Club.

Since a site that I linked to for many of our pdf screenplays has recently went dark, many, if not all of the links, may not work. I’ll be systematically checking them to see if this is the case, and if so, I’ll link to another site, although it may not be in pdf form.

It’s been a busy summer. With teaching fulltime and working as a writer for the prodco Life Is My Movie things have been hectic. But I’m going to try and regularly update this blog. I’m shooting for once a week (this one doesn’t count); anything above and beyond that is a big ‘ol pat on the back.
